Labor Day
As I walk down these stairs, my heart rate begins to slow, my breaths become increasingly slower, and I have an over all good vibe throughout my body. This is where we come to relax, where we come to get away from our everyday-lives. And even though it takes nearly 20 hours to get here from the west coast, it is so worth it.
Nantucket an island of only about ten-thousand people swells to over fifty-thousand in the summer, with tourists, day-trippers, and summer residents. But for nearly 100 years it has been called home to our family. Sadly my trip this time, is quite short, only 4 days including travel. I will be back though, in the late fall, I hope. Here are some more pictures for you to enjoy.

iPhone 3G
Well well well, it has finally come to lite. The new iPhone 3G. Hmmm well I must say that I'm am excited about the 3G'ness of the phone, but my current one (aka 2G I guess) works just fine on the AT&T network. I still use WiFi most of the time. It will also be interesting to see how AT&T's 3G network will hold up in July when all these new iPhones latch on to the network. I would have to say the thing I am most excited about is the App. Store. And that will beavailable to all iPhone users who update to iPhone2.0. I'll keep an eye out and let you all know asap. The reason why I've had no photos recently is because work has been slooooooow. And there haven't been many things to photograph. Pride is coming up so I'll be sure to post photos from this weekend. :)

A dying breed.
Well its official. We are parking all of our CRJ700's. The company blames high fuel prices. I blame the public's unwillingness to pay the actual price of what a ticket should cost, AND the company's unwillingness to charge them that. Oh well. This is a pretty nice jet. Its fast, RELIABLE, fairly comfortable, and fun. Its going to be funny watching all the Jet Queens try to figure out a turbo prop. Shit is going to hit the fan (litteraly). Another thing our company is doing to cut operational costs is putting over 1/3 of all flight attendant back on reserve. Now people who have been here nearly 2 years are back to sitting at home waiting for the phone to ring. This may not sound bad to a flight attendant working for the majors, however regional flight attendants typically spend less than one year on reserve--so this came as a big shocker. Anywho I'm sticking around. This cmpany didn't furlough any flight attendants after 9/11, and I dont think they'll have to now either. :)

USA Sevens
Every year in the great city of San Diego holds an international Rugby tournament called USA Sevens. This year there were 16 countries represented this year: France, New Zealand, Scotland, Wales, Australia, Fiji, Samoa, West Indies, Argentina, Canada, Chile, Kenya, England, South Africa, Mexico, and USA. This year Scott and I went, and it was sooo much fun! Here are some really cool photos

Everytime I visit Santa Rosa I smile because I am reminded that it's the home of Charles Schultz, the created of the Peanuts. The Peanuts the very first comic I started reading as a kid because my uncle read it, and he was he coolest person I knew at the time--I wanted to be just like him. Well the Peanuts thing sorta stuck, and my uncle is still pretty cool. As it turns out they named the airport after Mr. Schulz, and as you can see we just added service from there to LAS, we already serve LAX, RNO, SEA, & PDX daily from Santa Rosa.

Does anyone really read those safety information cards? Could the average dim-witted passenger open an exit in less than 5 seconds during an emergency? These are just a fraction of the questions I have. The joke is, that the second passengers step onboard they lose complete control of their bladders and their brains. A perfectly healthy, highly educated, passenger could board a plane and within seconds forget everything they've learned in life; I've seen passengers struggle to tie their shoes and them pick up a news paper and read it, UP-SIDE-DOWN, for several minutes. But the craziness starts before they even board. Passengers will sit in a well lit, heated terminal for hours with comfortable chairs and bathrooms with running WATER and flushing toilets only to rush on an over sold plane with uncomfortable seats and lavatories that barely have the FAA says is required. And then before we even take off they BEG me to use it.
I guess what I'm saying is don't be a typical passenger. Be aware of where you are and plan ahead.
And by the way, if your upset with the airline youre flying don't try to get back at them by asking for 2 drinks at a time. It only makes you look like a jerk.

Have you ever seen a light rail system being built? Well I asked these construction workers how they do it. I had always thought it was one solid mass, but actually it is several smaller pieces glued and bolted together. Here you can see each piece individually suspended while workers put them all together. There are actually men working inside the empty space of these segments. Each piece is held up by 4 lengths of chain which are all connected to this huge yellow machine which spans two entire lengths of track. Pretty interesting eh?
